...to the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations in Ankara!
Here is the artifact that Ankara adopted as its seal. There is a much larger (and younger) version on Ataturk Boulevard.
I just liked this little guy:
The open-mouthed one on the upper right is my favorite in this pic:
And, finally, a fertility goddess, flanked by two tiny musicians and holding...a pomegranate! It was hard to photograph it with no flash but it was too beautiful to not get a picture.
The museum also boasted many amazing large-scale reliefs and carvings, some cuneiform tablets still in their clay envelopes, and a model Catalhuyuk dwelling. For more information on Anatolian Civilizations, consult your local library, or better yet just visit Turkey!
